Spring Slush, Staff Laughs, and the Spirit of Z Group

At Z Group Architecture & Interior Design, we’ve always believed that you can’t design for life unless you’re out there living it.

Last weekend, we traded CAD drawings for ski laps and project briefs for slushy turns under the Colorado sun. Because great design doesn’t just come from talent—it comes from trust, connection, and joy. And this day had all three.

Sunshine and Team Connection

It was the kind of Friday you dream about all winter, 70 degrees, bluebird skies, and a team that genuinely enjoys spending time together. Laughter echoed across the slopes, goggle tans deepened, and the conversations flowed as easily as the melting spring snow.

After a season of pushing creative boundaries and meeting big deadlines, this was a moment to simply exhale—and remember why we love what we do and where we do it.

Where We Spent the Day

We posted up at Sliders Cabin in Snowmass, fired up the grill, and took turns carving through the slush. The vibe? Unfiltered fun. Between ski runs, spontaneous sunbathing, and shared playlists, it was one of those rare days where work titles disappear and you’re just humans enjoying a perfect spring day in the mountains.

Beyond the Office

Sure, it was fun, but it was also meaningful. At Z Group, we design homes, spaces, and experiences that live in harmony with the Colorado landscape. Our culture reflects that same balance. Taking a day to be together outside the office, to slow down, reconnect, and breathe mountain air. It reminds us who we are as a team and why our work matters.

This Is Why We’re Here

Colorado isn’t just a place on the map, it’s part of our DNA. The mountains aren’t a backdrop to our work; they’re woven into it. As an Aspen- and Basalt-based architecture and interior design firm, we don’t just design here—we live here, with gratitude for the landscape and the people who make this valley what it is.

Last Friday on Snowmass reminded us why we do what we do and how important it is to step back and appreciate it.

More Than Just a Ski Day

Team culture doesn’t happen in a meeting or at a desk. It’s built in real moments, like these: around a grill, with sunscreen on, music playing, and everyone smiling for no particular reason.

This wasn’t just a break. It was a reminder that our best work happens when we take care of our people, our creativity, and our joy.

Back at it on Monday

We were back at our desks with a little more sunshine in our step (and maybe a few sore quads). But the energy of that day stayed with us, fueling the way we collaborate, problem-solve, and show up for our clients and community.
