About
An old ski patrol hut perched slopeside in Snowmass, Up 4 Pizza is a thoughtful exterior renovation by Z Group Architecture & Interior Design that reimagines a beloved on-mountain eatery through a refined, contemporary mountain lens. Surrounded by panoramic views of the Elk Mountains and accessed directly by skiers, the building serves as both architectural landmark and communal gathering point at elevation.
The redesign transforms a dated structure into a bold yet contextual presence. Vertical red siding, charcoal trim, and metal awnings introduce a clean-lined, durable material palette suited to alpine extremes. Expanded glazing strengthens visual connection to the surrounding landscape, while the reconfigured deck and outdoor seating enhance flow for ski-in, ski-out traffic. The architecture is simple, confident, and highly legible against the snow—modern in expression, yet rooted in Colorado’s mountain vernacular.
More than a façade update, the project reinforces Up 4 Pizza’s identity as a social hub on the mountain. The refreshed exterior supports operational efficiency, withstands harsh winter conditions, and creates an inviting après-ski destination. It is a clear example of Z Group’s philosophy in action: architecture inspired by the outdoors, designed to elevate everyday experience, and built to endure in harmony with its environment.
