Perched high above Snowmass Village with unobstructed views of Mt. Daly, Ridge Residence is both a mountain refuge and a timeless family home. Designed by Z Group Architecture & Interior Design, the 4,000-square-foot residence combines alpine character with modern craftsmanship, uniting natural materials, balanced geometry, and the landscape’s quiet drama into a cohesive architectural story.

The home’s design celebrates its high-altitude setting. The exterior blends cedar siding, hand-cut stone, and timber detailing, expressing strength and warmth against the winter landscape. The sharply pitched rooflines and exposed beams evoke the spirit of traditional mountain architecture, while the precision of modern glazing and lighting introduces refinement and lightness.

Inside, Ridge Residence balances intimacy with openness. The great room serves as the heart of the home—a space defined by a vaulted ceiling, exposed trusses, and a stone fireplace that radiates both physical and emotional warmth. Expansive windows frame views of Snowmass Mountain and fill the interiors with natural light, reflecting the shifting seasons.

Contemporary home nestled at the base of Shadow Mountain in Aspen, Colorado, illuminated against the twilight sky with its modern glass façade and terraced landscape design.

The kitchen, dining, and living areas flow seamlessly together, with materials—warm woods, natural stone, and hand-finished plaster—echoing the surrounding terrain. Thoughtful detailing —from iron hardware to custom millwork —gives the interiors a tactile richness that connects contemporary living with rustic authenticity.

Private spaces were designed for retreat and reflection. The primary suite features its own fireplace and vaulted ceiling, while the bedroom’s windows perfectly frame the alpine sunset. Each space invites a quiet moment with the mountain beyond, making nature a constant and calming presence.

Enduring Materials, Lasting Design

Every design choice in Ridge Residence was made with longevity in mind. Durable finishes—both inside and out—were selected to age gracefully with the home’s natural surroundings. The stone-clad base anchors the structure, while the timber siding and metal roof weather naturally through the seasons, ensuring the home remains as beautiful decades from now as it is today.
