Wheeler Opera House

A historic landmark in Aspen, Colorado, The Wheeler Opera House was built in 1889, making it the third largest opera house in Colorado at the time. Originally built by architect W. J. Edbrooke, it was made of local peachblow sandstone and sat at sixty seven feet high, which made it the tallest building in Aspen in the late 1880s. The whole building was heated by steam heat and had electric lighting. this theater has undergone multiple renovation and restorations due to the large community support.
