Pitkin County Jail

The Pitkin County Jail received a special citation from the American Correctional Association for its Secure and Functional Design. The Master Control area, which includes a city and/or county dispatch center, incorporates clerestory views to alleviate an enclosed feeling for the staff.

Z-Group Architects succeeded in designing a secure facility which met the Sheriff Department’s philosophy of a humanistic approach to corrections.  This is a jail which integrates with a civic plaza and the strong architecture of a historic community.
