Team Ski Day in Snowmass

The Z Group Architecture & Interior Design team stepped away from our Aspen and Basalt offices and onto the slopes for a spring ski day at Snowmass. Under clear Colorado skies, we gathered at Slider’s Cabin for a team BBQ, cocktails, and a friendly snowball fight — a celebration of the mountain lifestyle that has shaped our firm for over 70 years.

As Aspen’s longest-standing architecture firm, founded in 1952, we have a connection to the mountains that runs deeper than recreation. It’s part of who we are and part of how we design.

For a firm inspired by the outdoors, time in the mountains isn’t separate from our work — it fuels it. There’s something about shared chairlift rides, long spring runs, and Après conversations that brings people closer. Away from deadlines and drawings, we get to simply enjoy each other’s company.

Architecture and interior design are inherently collaborative, but collaboration isn’t built in conference rooms alone. It’s built on trust. When principals ski alongside emerging designers, when project managers swap stories over lunch in ski boots, titles fade. Laughter replaces formality. Ideas move more freely. Respect deepens naturally.

That sense of ease and camaraderie carries directly into our projects — whether we’re designing a luxury Aspen residence, a custom mountain home in Snowmass, guiding a family through a legacy estate, or shaping a community space in the Roaring Fork Valley.
