Located in the Gallery Building of The River Lofts at Basalt River Park, the Design Workshop Basalt Office is an interior design and workplace environment crafted to reflect ideas of openness, connection, and creative exploration. Z Group Architecture & Interior Design provided both architectural and interior design services for this dynamic commercial space, working closely with the client to shape a workplace that supports productivity while remaining inviting, integrated with nature, and reflective of Design Workshop’s brand identity.
This project shows how interior design can transform a workplace into a thoughtful, experiential environment — elevating everyday work into something considered purposeful and resonant.
Design Narrative & Strategic Vision
The core goal of the Design Workshop interior design was simple but profound: create space that inspires. Z Group’s design team collaborated intimately with Design Workshop to understand their ethos—balancing functionality with moments of serenity and connection.
Situated on the ground floor and oriented toward the Roaring Fork River, this office environment extends beyond a traditional workspace. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows and doors provide uninterrupted views of the river and river park, allowing daylight and landscape to become integral components of the interior experience. This Colorado mountain town setting informed the palette of materials, the layout strategy, and the spatial rhythms—blending outdoor influences with indoor comfort.
The result is a light-filled workplace that subtly encourages collaboration, individual focus, and spontaneous interaction.

Natural lighting and direct connection to the riverfront trail and outdoor environment
This interior environment elevates typical workplace design by focusing on spatial comfort, efficiency, and alignment with identity, rather than on modular office planning alone.
Connection to Nature & Well‑Informed Design
The experience of interior space is deeply tied to the surrounding landscape. With floor‑to‑ceiling glazing facing the Roaring Fork River, the interior design intentionally blurs the line between indoor and outdoor. Light, movement, and landscape become part of the rhythm of daily life, supporting restorative and productive work cycles.
